THE MENENDEZ BROTHERS: THE OFFICIAL COMPANION PODCAST
HEAD WRITER + CREATIVE LEAD / PRODUCER
PODCAST SERIES
NETFLIX
I served as Head Writer & Creative Lead Producer for The Menendez Brothers: The Official Companion Podcast, a three part mini-series on Netflix's documentary podcast feed 'You Can't Make This Up', produced by Pod People and Campfire Studios for Netflix. The podcast reached #3 on the Apple Podcast charts in it’s first week of air, and sparked a surge of coverage around the case.
It was the trial that rocked the nation. Two brothers from Beverly Hills, convicted of murdering their parents. Today, Lyle and Erik Menendez are serving life in prison without parole. The Menendez brothers have not told their story together in nearly 30 years. In this companion to the Netflix documentary The Menendez Brothers, documentary filmmaker Alejandro Hartmann takes listeners behind-the-scenes on his quest to build a relationship with the two brothers. Through over 20 hours of exclusive interviews with both brothers, Alejandro builds a bigger story of just what happened that summer in 1989 – a story of abuse, myth-making, and choices you can’t come back from. But their crime was more than 30 years ago. More than two thirds of their lives have been spent behind bars. Who are the Menendez Brothers today? Was justice served?
This podcast is best enjoyed after watching the Netflix documentary The Menendez Brothers. To avoid spoilers, we recommend watching the film first.
